Most of the roads are tarred in South Africa unlike some of its neighbours and getting around is relatively easy. The Rand is reasonable for most developed countries where you can get roughly 1 Rand for about US$0.13. Your average backpacker’s accommodation pricing will be dependent on whether you will be camping, sleeping in the dorms or having a private room but will range from between R50.00 for camping to about R500.00 for a private double room. You can also book into the many guest houses and hotels on offer but you will be paying anything from R200.oo to R40000.00 a night depending on where you stay and the type of experience you would like to have.
