R15bn for World Cup
Cape Town - Government has committed R14.9bn to major capital projects for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, Finance Minister Trevor Manuel announced on Wednesday.
In his Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS), tabled in the National Assembly, he says this will form part of the proposed R80bn increase in spending over the next three years.
The balance of this will go mainly to improving the criminal justice system, the built environment and human development.
